Jose-Pasqual is a performance that portrays the intimate and psychological drawing of a young man on stage in the midst of an existential crisis that spills into his body. What Jose-Pasqual evokes, set to the notes of several neomelodic compositions, is the epilogue of a semi-tragic ending in which the involved performer expresses his worries, and inner conflicts tied to the pain of unrequited love towards Maruzzella, who on stage is represented by the body of an inflatable doll.
Like in a French Nouvelle Vague auteur film, where often a character emerges inexorably defeated, Jose-Pasqual declares that he is going through an almost initiatory journey, seeking to discover his identity, sometimes succeeding, and other times failing due to the fear of judgment from the world and due to a morality and ethics that, however burdensome, represent a weight from which he struggles to free himself to find the path to salvation.
It almost reminds one of a young teenager in his bedroom, discovering his senses for the first time and fearing that through the peephole in the door, his strict and oppressive mother might be able to see him and judge him.
