Le vie di carta_sul viaggio – Compagnia Arearea

Production: Arearea Company 2025
With the contribution of: MiC – Friuli Venezia Giulia Region
Paper is the place of writing, the material on which the idea of dance is realized.
Sheets, newspapers, postcards compose the horizon within which we can point a new direction for the gaze, send a message to someone who lives far away, but also receive a gift that we will never open.
Le vie di carta_sul viaggio is the mirage of a young traveler who explores a new story within himself.
The contemporary dance company Arearea was founded by Roberto Cocconi in 1993 and boasts more than 30 continuous years of history in producing original contemporary dance creations.
The company’s works unfold in the dual dimension of theatrical shows and performances in everyday spaces. Arearea’s poetic signature lies in questioning the usual logic of using the stage and the public square.
First studio/New work – Collettivo Nanouk
By: Collettivo Nanouk
Authors/Performers: Marianna Basso and Linda Pasquini
Production: Associazione House of IVONA
Founded in 2021 through the collaboration of Linda Pasquini, Marianna Basso, and Daniel Tosseghini, Collettivo Nanouk created its first staging of The Old Man, presented in 2023 after a residency at Officine CAOS in Turin. The piece was showcased at several festivals, including “Presente Futuro” (Palermo), “Tanzplattform Bern” (Switzerland), and “Festival Voci dell’Anima” (Rimini), earning multiple awards.
In 2023, the collective worked as choreographers for the Junior Company of Opificio Movimento (Italy) and joined the “Nuove Traiettorie XL” program, which supported the development of The Old Man into its final form.
In 2024, Nanouk took part in international festivals such as “CicBuny-Burgus Y Nueva York” (Spain) and “MasDanza” (Spain), as well as national events like “Corto in Danza” (Cagliari) and “Festival Mirabilia” (Cuneo), receiving significant recognition. The collective won the Critics’ Prize at “DirectionUnder30” (Reggio Emilia), leading to an invitation to “Festival Aperto” (Reggio Emilia), where the full 40-minute version of The Old Man was presented.
This version premiered at Palio ErmoColle 2024 (Parma), winning the festival’s special prize.
This new version also marked the beginning of a collaboration with the next generation of performers, bringing two young dancers on stage alongside the collective. In 2025, Nanouk creates Dive, which was selected to be part of the Vetrina della giovane danza d’autore – Anticorpi XL.

One moment stirs the next, one choice shifts another. Guidance that is always with us. It gives us people and directions. Sometimes we are in tune with it and sometimes we are just not careful enough to notice it so we lose it.

How small movement can be enough. How to fight your urge not to give 100% of your energy on stage.
How not to attack the sounds just really embody what you hear. How to connect to your partner even you have no physical contact with them. How not to take yourself too seriously and just enjoy your time on stage.
